Asking for Courage

There was once a girl. She was close as anyone could get to God.

It seemed as if no matter what she asked for from God she could never get it! She asked for beauty but woke up everyday the same. She asked for patience but still found herself yelling at her brother to hurry in the bathroom every morning. One day the girl asked for courage. She had a speech coming up in class the following day and hoped that God had given her what she asked for. When the day of the speech arrived she was as nervous as ever. She gave the speech without confidence and shaking the entire time. The day after the next she was in the lunch line. She saw someone steal a child's money. She wanted to say something but didn't want HER money to be taken away. In class, the teacher asked if anyone saw what had happened. Still playing it safe, she kept quiet. The girl was suddenly angry with God. She had prayed every night but never got the courage she asked for. There were so many incidents where courage could have helped her. That's when it hit her! God didn't give her courage, she gave her the OPPORTUNITY to be courageous! God doesn't just hand things out! He gives you opportunities to be that person!
