Mother's Day!!! - By Nina Lorene

Mother's Day!!!

By Nina L.

''ERRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!" Liam said.
"What's the matter?" Liam's older sister Margret asked.
"Mom grounded me because I lied to her about my chores yesterday."
"Well..... you shouldn't have lied, you know," she said.
"I know, but I really wanted to play with my friends." Liam said.
"So.... why are you so angry about it?"
"I wanted to give her a mother's day gift but I'm grounded for a week, and by that time, Mother's Day will be over," Liam replied.
"Well I have not bought my gift for Mom yet, so I could ask if you could come with me so you can buy Mom's gift." Margret said.
"Yea!!!!" Liam said. "Go ask her."
Margret walked into the house. "Mom ,can Liam come to the store with me so we can buy you a Mother's day gift?"
"No," their Mom said.
"Why not?"
"Liam is grounded he cannot go anywhere fun," Mom replied.
"But can't he get you a Mother's day gift?"
"No, he should have thought of that before he lied."
"But...." Margret said.
"No more about it,'' Mom said.
"That's not nice don't you care that he won't be able to git you a gift?"
"I said no more about.''
"Well I don't think that is nice," Margret snapped back.
"OK," Mom said. "You are grounded, too"
"Why?" Margret whined.
"Because I said that was enough, and you talked back at me."  Mom said.
Margret stormed back outside.
"So what did she say?" Liam asked.
"Well now I got grounded too."
"OH.. sorry" Liam said.
"Yea, well, now neither of us can get her a gift," she said.

"Happy Mother's day!!!!!!!!" Liam and Margret said. "Wake up!!!!!"
As they were eating dinner, Liam and Margret look sad when their little brother and Dad gave their Mom their Mother's day gift. ''We're sorry that we couldn't get you a Mother's day gift" Margret said. "Yea," said Liam "But if you would have just let us go to the store, you would have one."
"Sweetheart," their Mom said, "Don't you think your obedience is the best present of all?"
"I never thought of that," Liam said. "And..." Their Mom continued "Don't you think God deserves more attention then you give Him, too? When was the last time you read your Bible or thanked Him for some thing?"
"Yea, I guess your right, Mom" Liam said. "I haven't read my Bible in so long that is probably has dust on it,'' Margret said.
"Well I think we should all go out to ice cream!" their Dad said, "if we have learned something.''
"I have!" all the kids said.
"But first" Margret said, "I think we should all read the Bible a little first; I have a certain verse I would like to share."
PROVERBS 4:4-9
"He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee."

This is a lovely story. I never thought that obedience could be a really good gift. Normally I would have snapped back at my mom like Margret did. I love how you were able to make the story connect with me and still have a great message in it. .
